The ashes of Murali, who died of heart attack recently, was immersed in the Rameswaram sea, which is called as ‘Agni Theertham’, on Friday. Rituals were performed with the assistance of Purohits on the seashore.

The actor’s son Atharva (who made his acting debut with ‘Baana Kathadi’), accompanied by his maternal uncle Sridharan, took a holy dip in the sea before immersing the ashes in Agni Theertham, according to reports.

Murali died of a massive cardiac arrest in the early morning of September 8. He was 46. Son of Kannada film director G Siddalingiah, he started his acting career in Kannada films, but it was his stint in Tamil cinema that fetched him fame and recognition. The actor’s first Tamil film was ‘Poovilangu’. After the success of the film he did ‘Pagal Nilavu’ which was the first Tamil film of ace director Mani Rathnam. Murali’s last movie was ‘Baana Kaathadi’, which is the launch pad of his son.
